Owner Esteban Diaz J. started his career implementing and operating sophisticated Telephone Central Offices in INTEL & Intercontinental of Telecommunications by Satellite (INTERCOMSA) in the mid 70’s. This included equipment design of e-PBX, Local, TOLL & International Gateway Switches and supporting Translation Database, Software, Hardware and AC/DC Power Plant systems. The experience at INTERCOMSA design unit became valuable in engineering proper systems for specialized private/government/military communications, rocket tracking as well as satellite communications systems. That experience came to fruition when managing engineering aspects of GLOBALSTAR Americas Corp.,. Since those early days Mr. Diaz is credited as playing an important role in the development and implementation of today’s Low Earth Orbit Satellite Earth Station systems used for mobile worldwide internet & telephone services.

ITPTY S.A. has strong engineering expertise in several related telecommunications fields:
- INSIDE PLANT: The planning and implementation of IPTV, telco central office and cable TV headend facilities requires a strong understanding of the overall system architecture. We have strong expertise in fiber planning, optical transmitters and receivers, headend amplifiers, combining networks, modulators, transcoders, cherrypickers, CMTS systems for DOCSIS 3, video encoders, etc.
- OUTSIDE PLANT (OSP): The design of OSP systems is done using Lode Data design and drafting tools as well as proprietary optical link budget design programs. Drawings are prepared using AutoCAD MAPS 2012.
- FIBER-TO-THE-HOME (FTTH): We are a registered Calix consulting engineering firm, although we are independent of any manufacturer. We will engineer and implement FTTH systems from any manufacturer.
- LONG HAUL DWDM FIBER NETWORK: We have designed and implemented over 400 KM of long haul DWDM fiber facilities interconnecting cities. Our responsibility included the strategic planning, project approvals, complete system design including permits and crossings, construction tender and contract to project management for the fiber system construction itself. Then after the fiber was completed we engineered and implemented, test and turn-up of all of the equipment.

Recent strategic plans developed by our associates for clients include:
- Over-the-top (OTT) television service using low cost settop boxes and integrated smart TV application. Not unlike Netflix but more integrated with linear and non-linear television content. The entire system was designed, costed and revenue projections developed in order to create a business plan for implementation.
- Delivery of television and movies to cruise ship cabins using IPTV versus cable TV technology. Besides doing the strategic plan we were contracted to engineer and implement the system and convert from the legacy video distribution system.
- Worldwide internet satellite system using low earth orbiting satellites. High speed ubiquitous connectivity anywhere in the world using low cost small terminal devices. This is an internal pet project of one of our associates that would be a game changer if the right party expressed a desire to proceed with the next level of system design and planning.
- Deployment of Switched Digital Video (SDV) versus outside plant upgrade to 1 GHz.
- Deployment of Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technologies or continuing with existing Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) practices.
- Upgrade of satellite technology using existing space segment transitioned to newer equipment.
- Deployment of HDTV production studio and edit suites using a central server storage architecture. Besides planning the system we implemented the production studio which is used for television production and web broadcast purposes.
- Conversion of existing analog non-linear edit production suites to new integrated digital television system. Besides planning the system we implemented a move of 10 non-linear production edit suites to a new facility that uses centralized server storage for improved workflow and cost savings.
- Review of options and budget for a Mobile production vehicle for HDTV production and satellite news gathering (SNG).
- Ka-Band satellite network conversion from older to new VSAT technology for optimum space segment utilization.
As required by government legislation, our Associate Electrical Engineers are currently licensed to stamp Electrical Engineering drawings as required for construction in Panama and the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta in Canada and would consider becoming registered and stamping drawings in other jurisdictions on a case-by-case basis. We are experienced with the Panamanian and Canadian Electrical Code and the variations within our licensed areas.
Besides the stamping of Electrical Engineering drawings, we have years of experience in site selection, utility right-of-way easements, building permit application, purchase contract and contractor management, site supervision and in the implementation of the complete project from planning to occupancy.
Our expertise in Engineering includes a strong awareness of all aspects of what it takes to design and implement a successful facility. A strong practical knowledge of high tech facilities allows us to engineer and implement advanced technology facilities such as cable headends, internet data centres, operations centres and satellite communications Gateway/Teleport facilities, including all of the electrical engineering requirements and the stamping of the drawings for permit purposes.
Our detailed planning includes: UPS (uninterruptible power systems), backup generator system, HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning), Fire Protections, equipment shelter planning including rack layout and cable tray systems, fiber optic interconnects, power feeds, etc.
